Jennifer Hawkins, Rebecca Judd & Kris Smith Celebrate 50 Years of Myer Fashions on the Field in Floral Style
Yesterday, Myer and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) commemorated the milestone celebration of 50 years of Fashions on the Field (August 28th) with an exclusive event for media and VIP guests with Myer Ambassadors, Jennifer Hawkins, Rebecca Judd and Kris Smith were picture perfect against the backdrop of the exquisite Rose Media Wall.
Hosted by Channel Seven’s Jennifer Keyte, the high tea affair was held in Myer’s Mural Hall inside their Bourke Street Department Store, guests were treated to a fashion parade capturing this season’s key racewear collection showcased by Jen, Bec and Kris inspired by the past 50 years of fashions at Flemington. Joining the Myer Ambassadors were a further 17 models wearing new season designs from Aurelio Costarella, Magdalena Velevska, Jayson Brunsdon, YB J’AIME, Arthur Galan AG, Karen Walker and Nicola Finetti.
Bec Judd, Myer Racing Ambassador, made a dramatic entrance wearing Toni Maticevski paired with millinery by Phillip Rhodes. For the finale Jen and Kris joined the catwalk together with Jen wearing a design by Ellery matched with Melissa Jackson millinery, and Kris was raceday ready in an elegant suit by Dom Bagnato.
The event also marked the first official appearance for Alison Saville, the 2012 Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador. Pairing her love of horses with fashion comes naturally to Alison, the daughter of Black Caviar owner Pam Hawkes, making her the perfect choice to represent Myer Fashions on the Field for the fiftieth milestone in an Ellery ensemble styled with Kim Fletcher millinery to complement her outfit.
Guests were also treated to an exhibition of former contestant’s winning outfits from the past half century of Myer Fashions on the Field which will go on to be housed at the National Sports Museum for all to enjoy from 15 October, 2012 until 30 June, 2013.
Amongst the 100 guests at the event were some of Australia’s most stylish celebrities, past contestants and judges, racing identities, and Myer’s leading Australian designers including; Myer CEO Bernie Brookes, Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, Arthur Galan, and Yeojin Bae, alongside top milliners Phillip Rhodes, Richard Nylon, Kerrie Stanley, Melissa Jackson and Kim Fletcher. Celebrities and VIP guests also in attendance included The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor Mr Robert Doyle, Robyn Baillieu, Sara Groen, Scherri-Lee Biggs, Heath Meldrum, Nadia Coppolino, Fifi Box and Black Caviar owners Pam Hawkes and Jannene Madden.
The event also announced the beginning of a new Myer Fashions on the Field category – the Online People’s Choice Award. The award gives women from anywhere in Australia the chance to enter their inspirational racewear ensembles online. The winner will win a 9-day trip of a lifetime valued at $10,000 and fast track to the national final of Myer Fashions on the Field to compete against the state finalists for the coveted title of Myer Fashions on the Field Women’s Racewear National Winner.
The Fashion on the Fields competition was launched by the VRC in 1962 to encourage more women to attend the races, and is now replicated all over the world. Myer Fashions on the Field today attracts contestants from all over the Australia with the lure of being crowned National Winner and a prizepool of over $400,000.
