Girls, girls, girls! If the man in your life drags you along to this movie kicking and screaming, then by all means you can make a fuss, but when you get there, settle back and enjoy! I begrudgingly sat through the previous Expendables movie and didn’t quite get it, but my man informed me it was meant to be funny and a bit of laugh. Well, ladies, this time around – it’s TRUE! I got it and pretty much was cackling my way through the film with everyone else in the audience.
Mr. Church (Willis) reunites the Expendables team for another mission. These heroes are back in deep enemy territory trying to pay back a favour and earn some cash in the meantime, after all, it’s just a job! It’s starts with action and pretty much keeps in gunning through the whole movie, except for a few soft and meaningful moments just to add to the drama.
I don’t know what’s more exciting seeing these heavyweight stars hamming it up or the fact that they are all rockin’ it on the big screen together. It makes it all the more hilarious seeing Schwarznegger standing next to Stallone with a side of Willis totally taking the mickey out of everyone else and most of all, themselves. I don’t want to give away anything but there are some cracking lines in this film that will have you in hysterics. Sometimes I missed some of the lines they were saying because everyone was laughing.
Our very own Liam Hemsworth appears as Billy the Kid and makes an excellent addition to this all star cast. He is a new young recruit struggling with the assassin lifestyle and finding it a bit hard to fit in after experiencing Iraq. He realises quickly that whilst gaining respect from his comrades, he feels like this life might not be for him and stays for just one more mission. What happens next changes the course of the film and has the big wigs (and yes, I think one in particular is now wearing a wig) on the path to revenge! Stallone was also a co-writer and with his previous experience, you can just see how much fun he had with this script.
Keep an eye out for some cracking cameos from our old screen favourites and some of the best macho lines from old movies make their way into the film also. I can’t reveal too much or it will ruin the surprise – so girls, what I’m saying is – you should probably see this one – go in with the view that these guys are totally having a laugh at themselves and you’ll enjoy it that much more.
These guys are back for war today.
