A 12-year-old boy named Ted (Zac Efron) searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams, Audrey (Taylor Swift). To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. His grandmother tells him how he can find the Once-ler.

Ted lives in Thneedville, a futuristic city where plants and trees come with remote controls and fresh air is sold as a commodity by a short, pudgy business meanie Mr O’Hare. Ted’s grandmother secretly gives him instructions on how to find the Once-ler, he attempts to travel outside of the town to find the Once-ler, with eyes on him from the O’Hare group.

Ted finally finds the Once-ler and asked him the important question, ‘What happened to the trees in Thneedville?’

The Once-ler, once was a young ambitious man who had big ideas in making it big, left home on an adventure with his blue guitar, to become rich. Now an old, afraid and sad man hiding behind shutters tells his story on how Thneedville became treeless.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable family movie that was loved by all including the youngest in the family, who has now said it’s his favourite film, and he isn’t easy to please when it comes to movies.

A Dr Seuss story with it’s bright and loud colours, typical of Dr Seuss’s twisted manner of drawing/painting combined with a stellar voiceover cast and a happy ending, equals a quality movie for all ages to see. It is everything you love about a Dr Seuss story.

Quirky, colourful and entertaining.

Available now on DVD (RRP$34.95) and Blu-Ray (RRP$39.95).
