Two decades pass and Barnabas (Academy Award® nominee JOHNNY DEPP) is now the master of Collinwood Manor. With the world at his feet, Barnabas has it all – until he makes the grave mistake of falling in love with a beauty named Josette DuPres (BELLA HEATHCOTE) and breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (EVA GREEN). A witch in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death—turning him into a vampire, and then burying him… alive.  Nearly two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972, a stranger in an even stranger time. Returning to Collinwood Manor, he finds that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin, and the dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harbouring their own dark secrets.

Based on the inspiring true story that captured the hearts of people across the world, the rescue adventure EVERYBODY LOVES WHALES tells the amazing tale of a small town news reporter (John Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Drew Barrymore) who are joined by rival world superpowers to save a family of majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle. Local newsman Adam Carlson (Krasinski) can’t wait to escape the northern tip of Alaska for a bigger market. But just when the story of his career breaks, the world comes chasing it, too. With an oil tycoon, heads of state and hungry journalists descending upon the frigid outpost, the one who worries Adam the most is Rachel Kramer (Barrymore). Not only is she an outspoken environmentalist, she’s also his ex-girlfriend. With time running out, the unlikely coalition of Inuit whalers and Russian and American military must set aside competing agendas to rescue the baby whale and his parents. As Rachel and Adam turn attention to the top of the globe, saving these endangered animals becomes a shared cause for nations entrenched against one another and leads to a thaw in the Cold War.

Small town teenager Luli (Chloë Grace Moretz, Kick-Ass, Hugo) escapes to Las Vegas, leaving behind her alcoholic and abusive parents. Along the way, Luli crosses paths with Eddie (Eddie Redmayne, My Week with Marilyn), an unstable rebel with questionable motives and Glenda (Blake Lively, Gossip Girl, The Town), a cocaine-snorting drifter on the run. Adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by Andrea Portes, this powerful story pulls you into a provocative world of drugs, seduction and murder.

First Night

Adam (Richard E. Grant, The Iron Lady, Gosford Park, Bright Young Things) is a rich industrialist and frustrated opera singer aspiring to a more cultured world. Spurred on by playful jibes that he’s just a city suit living a capitalist dream he decides to stage an opera in his lavish country retreat. He feels sure the shallow taunting will end once his friends see him in full voice. In fact his singing might even help him win the hand of Celia (soprano sensation Sarah Brightman) the female conductor he’s been pursuing, especially since she is the first to be recruited for his showpiece. For the rest of the cast and the production Adam brings in the experts and enlists the aid of a troupe of sexy young singer with enough collective sexual tension to light up the stage. His choice of opera? Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, the master composer’s fabled romp through the bittersweet territory of sexual infidelity. And as this disparate group flexes their melodic and melodramatic muscles, it won’t be long before life imitates art as relationships flourish and flounder.

Available now on DVD (RRP$39.95) and Blue Ray (RRP$49.95).

Desperate Housewives Season 8 (Final Season)

Kiss your favourite neighbours goodbye in the eighth and final season of Desperate Housewives.  A primetime soap, threaded at times with dark comedy, focusing on the lives of four neighbouring women bound by the friendship they share and the secrets they keep. On the surface, the residents of Wisteria Lane appear to be the picture of suburban America. But underneath lay bigger mysteries — infidelity, deceit, blackmail and even murder. And with not so honest husbands, complicated relationships, family drama and meddling neighbours adding to the turmoil, it’s no wonder things aren’t always as they seem in the lives of the housewives.
