Keeping your hair clean, soft and shiny is one of the most important, and sometimes hardest, steps in any beauty routine, so many factors internally and externally affect our hair. With so many products on the market, it can be hard to choose the shampoo and conditioner that’s right for you. We’ve done a roundup of some of the products we’ve been using lately that we’ve really liked and may be you will too.
L’Occitane Aromachologie Radiance and Colour Care Range
For those of us guilty of faking our natural hair colour, this range includes a gentle creamy shampoo (RRP $29 for 250ml, RRP $44 for 500ml) and conditioner (RRP $29 for 250ml, RRP $44 for 500ml). The products do a great job of cleansing the hair, without stripping it of its much needed nutrients. The collection also includes a decadent mask (RRP $39) which smells so good and restores damaged and brittle hair. We are big fans of this range.
Perfect for: Coloured and dry hair
Original&Mineral Fine Intellect and Original Detox and new style Guru Style Cream)
The Original Detox Deep Cleansing Shampoo (RRP $29.95) banishes the build-up of product and oils we get from styling our hair every day. It uses tea tree and peppermint oils and does a good job in cleansing and refreshing the hair. We combined it with the Fine Intellect Conditioner (RRP $29.95). Perfect for girls with baby-fine, flyaway hair, it is enriched with natural seed oils and soy protein to give hair that nourishing boost it needs. We also love the new Style Guru Styling Cream (RRP$26.95)that deserves a special mention, it features banksia flower, macadmia seed oil and certified organic evening primrose oil that all nourish and smooth and soften the hair. This little cream is a blowdry aid to pump up the volume, a curl definer and if you want to go for the slicked back look, this little guru is your guy. And we have to mention the smell, Tropical Coconut fragrance … for us coconut addicts, we’re in and styling!
Perfect for: Fine and flat hair
Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk
Containing nourishing and organic active ingredients such as coconut oil, egg-white protein and coconut oils to hydrate and strengthen neglected hair. The shampoo lathered up wonderfully, and combined with the thick and creamy conditioner, left our hair feeling soft and clean. We love how good these products smell – the tasty tropical scent is perfect for the summer months ahead. RRP $15.99 each.
Perfect for: Dry to normal hair
Sebastian Professional Trilliance Shine
The Trilliance Shampoo (RRP $34) and Conditioner (RRP $36) harnesses rock crystal extract in the promise of brilliant and dazzling shine. The shampoo did a great job of cleansing our hair, and the conditioner was wonderfully nourishing, but we didn’t see any earth-shattering results in the way of shine but may be our expectations were too high, you know glitter and all that?
Perfect for: Normal hair
Aveda Be Curly Range
Taming curly hair can be tough – the Aveda Be Curly range promises to do just that. Using innovative technology and blending hydrolyzed wheat protein and organic aloe, the range claims to intensify curls and reduce frizz. The products smell so good with an aroma made from a blend of organic lime, lemon, bergamot and orange oils. We used the shampoo and conditioner and they both did a great job of keeping our hair clean, soft and hydrated and keeping our curls under control, we recommend this range if you struggle with your curls. RRP $29.95 each.
Perfect for: Curly hair
Billy Goat Soap Shampoo and Conditioner
These products are all natural and made from the goodness of goat’s milk. The shampoo is ultra-gentle, making it perfect for dry and irritated scalps, or those prone to eczema, but we found that the conditioner was not hydrating enough. We love that these products don’t contain colours parabens or chemicals, but we did miss the fragrance that we are accustomed to in most hair care products. RRP $19.95.
Perfect for: Sensitive scalps
Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment
This last product is a post-shower treatment, designed specifically for damaged and brittle hair. It claims to protect against UV rays and heat styling while adding shine, controlling frizz and hydrating the hair. We used it and enjoyed the results, but the jury is still out on whether or not this is a miracle product. We did get good results, but used it in combination with Coconut Oil, hence why we are sitting on the “miracle” fence. RRP $24.95.
Perfect for: Damaged and dry hair.
