Beauty Breakdown & Backstage With Napoleon Perdis for David Jones Autumn/Winter 2013 Fashion Show

| 7 February , 2013 | Reply

With colder months ahead, it’s time to start putting away the bronzers and sea salt spray and welcome in the new trends and we are taking inspiration from the looks created by Napoleon Perdis, for the David Jones Autumn/Winter 2013 fashion show held last night (February 6th).

The looks focused on smouldering eyes in deep, rich colours. Entrancing eyes will be complemented with fresh, clean skin, contoured cheeks and neutral lips. The looks are broody and seductive, perfect for the cold nights ahead.

“For Autumn/Winter I wanted to return to a richer, deeper colour palette. I love collaborating with stylist Kelvin Harries and he was very much inspired by the richness of both colour and texture throughout the various designer collections. I’ve created two modern yet wearable eye statements: a one-dimensional metallic in shades of grey and a deep emerald, and a tonal neutral with punch. The one commonality is in the depth of the fusing and blending for each eye look. I’m calling it ‘The 2013 smoky eye’! It’s not about precision but more about sheer washes of colour across the whole lid to create an intensity and moody intrigue. It’s a little bit broody, definitely sexy and perfect for the new season ahead.” – Napoleon Perdis

Both of this season’s looks are ultra wearable but still modern and edgy and we’ve got the beauty breakdown for you for the two looks created last night and all the backstage pics of Miranda and Jessica Gomes.

To achieve the first look, begin by applying Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum. The key to this look is clear and flawless skin, so skincare is essential.

Then apply Auto-Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer to help the foundation grip and last.

Conceal blemishes and imperfections with the Mighty Concealer Pen and follow with Camera Ready pressed powder to smooth and mattify the skin.

Highlight the eye area with Magnify-eyes Mascara, then comb brows to sit naturally.

Sweep a contouring brush along the cheekbones with The Ultimate Nude Palette #5 Blush before applying an eye pencil in Grey Matters along the lower lashline and through the socket. Smudge the lines for a smoky and sultry affect.

Blend Teal eyeshadow from the Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad Chinese New Year along the upper and lower lash lines and through the socket.

Using a fine brush, use Black from the Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad Chinese New Year to gently line along the lower and upper lash lines. Blend out the shadows to soften the look and contour the eye with the Ultimate Nude Palette #9 Shadow using the Sculpting Brush 10.

Finally, apply DeVine Goddess Lipstick in a neutral shade that complements your complexion. Napoleon recommends Gamelia, Iris or Demeter.

Second look:

To create the second look, follow the same initial steps in prepping and perfecting the skin and brows. Contour the cheekbones with the Ultimate Nude Palette #5 Blush.

Softly smudge eye pencil in Brown Sugar along the lower lash line and through the socket. Apply The Ultimate Nude Palette #9 shadow along the upper and lower lash lines. Blend the colour through the socket.

Contour the inner bridge of the eye with the Ultimate Nude Palette #5. Blend the shadows out and contour the eye area with The Ultimate Nude Palette #4 Shadow.

Line the water line with China Doll Gel Eyeliner in Copper.

Stain the lips with Lip Pencil Pinot Noir, then layer with DeVine Goddess Lipstick Harmonia.
