Dior have given us an exclusive first look at their teaser campaign leading up to the release of their new Miss Dior chypre fragrance. Photographed by Tim Walker, featuring brand ambassador Natalie Portman, we see wearing Natalie wearing a design by Raf Simons – a modern version of the famous Miss Dior dress designed in 1949 and re-embroidered with a thousand flowers. Natalie plays “Catherine Dior” the eternal heroine of the Maison Dior on Avenue Montaigne inspired by Paris 1947 when Christian Dior created his first perfume. Natalie will also star in a new short film directed by Sofia Coppola.
The origins of Miss Dior or “Perfume of Love” are shown in these exclusive first look images and short film below. A film reviving the memory of a founding myth, a legendary chypre that accompanied the origins of the revolution in elegance conducted by Christian Dior.
As the Couture-Perfume of the House of Dior’s beginnings, Miss Dior was born in 1947 to define the New Look revolution in a fragrance. No couture house had ever known anything like this before. As the very first fragrance created by Christian Dior, its chypre accords innovated and surprised.
Miss Dior conjures up touching anecdotes and legendary images that feature the House of Dior’s most emblematic figures. Mitzah Bricard, the couturier-perfumer’s indispensable muse, played a decisive role in its creation. Stars of the silver screen and elegant ladies from around the world wrote its legend. Archive images and modern icons tell its tale, echoing the elegance and seduction of this exceptional fragrance.
