Over time, a small range of fragrances have permanently found their way into the hearts of modern women; Chanel No. 5, Poison by Dior, and for many, L’Eau D’Issey. To celebrate and recognize the timeless fragrance, Issey Miyake has just released L’Eau D’Issey Absolue.
The classic fragrance was inspired to evoke a reflection of the warmth and intensity of feminine beauty, much like golden sunlight. L’Eau D’Issey Absolue is a not a new concentration of L’Eau d’Issey, it is a new interpretation – a luminous floral based on honey and night-blooming jasmine.
The fragrance opens with the same top notes as the original perfume. Lotus Flower and Freesia Accord are syrupy and feminine as they blossom on the skin.
The fragrance then moves into the night-blooming jasmine scent, a smouldering and sensual scent that adds a new depth to the scent. Accompanying notes of tuberose and white flowers are a comforting and warming presence.
Finally, much like the iridescent glow of the sun as it dips below the horizon at dusk, the heart of Provence honey absolute becomes apparent. This finally settles into the familiarly musky notes of bourbon vanilla absolute and precious wood accord. This adds just a touch of soft warmth to the fragrance as it settles on the skin.
The fragrance smells largely the same as the original L’Eau D’Issey, so longtime fans will love this new offering. The jasmine is a subtle addition and provides just enough of a shift, but the original scent is still recognisable.
L’Eau D’Issey Absolue is available now in three sizes; 25ml (RRP $82), 50ml (RRP $135) and 90ml (RRP $180) nationally at Myer, David Jones and selected independent stockists.
