We love sustainable beauty – there’s something so great about enjoying beauty, while knowing that your products will help contribute the preserving the beauty of the world around us and The Body Shop knows how to do sustainable beauty – and excitingly they have just released some new goodies to add to your beauty conscious wishlist.
If you’re looking for a brighter, lighter complexion, The Body Shop are releasing their very own BB Cream. Belonging to the endlessly popular Moisture White collection, the cream promises to brighten your skin by harnessing the power of Shisho. Shisho is a herb, similar to mint and basil, that is believed to reduce the early stages of melanin-making production, by blocking the signals, so you won’t suffer from discoloration or hyper-pigmentation.
The BB cream has a surprising formula – heavier than many of the other BB creams we’ve tried, but still lighter than their foundations. It has a great coverage, so those with problem skin will probably enjoy this cream. Despite it being created to suit all skin types, the colour is a little fair – this shouldn’t be too much of a problem during winter as our summer tan’s fade, but girls with warmer complexions may find this one a little too pale for them. The other downside to the product is its application – it comes in a pump bottle that has a tendency to distribute too much product at once. It gets messy and difficult to apply, but if you blend quickly, or with a brush, it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Despite all this, the product is quite lovely – it has a very natural finish and contains SPF which will protect your skin even further from discoloration. It’s a great every day product for a natural, soft look although a bit on the pricey side RRP$48.95 compared to other BB Creams on the market.
As Autumn rolls in, a new pampering hand collection, Absinthe Hand Care Collection, which purifies and softens the skin using natural absinthe extracts. Don’t worry, there’s no green fairies in this range – the plant known as wormwood is what gives absinthe its distinctive bitter taste, but it also has a multitude of beauty and medicinal benefits. The range includes a purifying hand wash (RRP $17.95) that lathers and cleanses the hands – perfect to keep in the kitchen to get the scent of onions from your fingers. Follow up with the purifying hand cream (RRP $21.95) which uses community fair trade shea butter from Ghana. We absolutely love the hand creams – soft, thick, and creamy, they always soak straight into the skin and leave you feeling super hydrated and the smell is just refreshingly woodsy and divine!
Both the Absinthe Hand Care Collection and the Moisture White BB Cream are available now from your nearest Body Shop and online at www.thebodyshop.com.au.
