Talking about The Great Gatsby, here’s Isla Fisher as the Cover Star for Fashion Magazine’s May 2013 issue as photographed by Chris Nicholls and styled by Zeina Esmail wearing a decadent emerald green dress by Burberry Prorsum.
The interview focuses on Isla’s upcoming role as Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby set in the Roaring 20’s alongside, our very own Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki, Hollywood heavyweights Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan, inside she shared her thoughts on having the ‘perfect life,’ dating bad boys and the changing times of the 1920s:
On having the perfect life: “You can’t have it all – it’s a total myth. Whatever you are lucky enough to get should be fabulous enough. I have never met anyone with the perfect career and perfect family life. Something always has to suffer.”
The changing fashions from the 20s: “Women had just gotten out of corsets, so they went straight to chopping their hair off, putting on sexier clothes, and living exciting lives. They felt trapped by wearing long dresses for so long. It was a new beginning with lots of dancing and drinking.”
On past relationships with ‘bad boys:’ “Everyone can be a bit guilty of being a Myrtle [described as an classist aspiration junkie] we’ve all loved a bad boy. I have never been with a married man, but in my younger days I wanted to be in a relationship with someone who was not at all honest or emotionally available.”
