Introducing Jamie Durie’s New Organic Skin Care Collection “People for Plants”

By now, everyone knows that we love all things organic and natural here, so we were very excited to learn that a new range of affordable, certified organic Australian skin care products will be hitting our shelves very soon… introducing People For Plants.

The People For Plants Organic Skincare Collection is founded by TV personality, Jamie Durie, Andrew Brown and Anna Addicoat. Together they have combined their global knowledge, with the needs of modern women to create an accessible and affordable organic skin care range. The range was built through collaboration with organic farmers and global research to ensure a pure and natural option, accessible for all women and was three years in the making.

“I’ve always been passionate about connecting people with plants and what we can learn from them to give ourselves a sense of wellbeing to make our lives better. This range gives me the opportunity to put together everything that I have learnt about plants and horticulture from around the world to develop a beautiful range of skincare products that actually work. I know that like me, when you see and use the People for Plants range you are making the best possible choice for your skin.” – Jamie Drurie

The line began with the problem skin of Jamie’s best mate and co-founder of the brand, Anna Addicoat when she was pregnant.  A close friend of Jamie’s for 15 years, Anna’s husband and fellow People for Plants co-founder; Andrew Brown is a dedicated farmer, and began harvesting organic crops to alleviate Anna’s skin conditions and motivate an all round cleaner lifestyle for his family.

The brand’s release includes a Body and Face range, so no matter what your needs are there will be a natural product for everyone. The Body range contains five products to keep you soft and supple from head to toe.

The Body Scrub (RRP $19.95) contains invigorating papaya and crushed apricot seeds to cleanse and detox the skin, polishing away impurities and dead skin cells. Follow up the scrub with one of the range’s two body creams. The Sweet Almond, White Tea and Macadamia Body Cream (RRP $19.95) are packed with omega 6 and 7, which helps to deeply hydrate the skin, leaving it plump and nourished. The Gingko, Coconut and Shea Body Cream (RRP $19.95) is a super rich cream which helps to restore your skin’s natural pH levels, while the anti-oxidant rich ginkgo helps to revitalise and energise your skin.

The Body range also contains two hand creams, which come in super handy tubes. The Hemp, Apricot Kernel and Macadamia hand cream contains fatty acids to soothe and hydrate the skin of your hands, while the Lemon Myrtle, Camelia and Manuka Honey cream helps to form a protective barrier on your skin. The creams are both rich and full of ultra-hydrating oils making them perfect for hard working hands.

The Face range contains the comprehensive range of products, to ensure natural glowing skin, for any skin type.

The first step in any skincare regime is cleansing, and People for Plants collection contains two. Choose from either the White Tea, Aloe and Witch Hazel Cleanser and Makeup Remover (RRP $24.95), for blemished and troublesome skin or Grapefruit and Aloe Foaming Cleansing Gel (RRP $24.95) perfect for normal to combination skin.

To polish your way to radiant skin, the Aloe, Grapefruit and Garnet Scrub (RRP $24.50), and follow it up with a refreshing spritz of their gorgeous Rose Otto, Burdock and Kakadu Plum mist toner (RRP $19.95).

The most important part of skincare is ensuring your skin is perfectly hydrated and the People for Plants range is packed with moisturisers. Regular skin will love the Rosehip, Gingko and Shea Day Cream (RRP $29.95), while the Chamomile, Calendula and Shea Moisturiser (RRP $29.95) will soothe sensitive or irritated skin. If you tend to suffer from oily skin, the Cucumber and Aloe hydration gel (RRP $29.95) is the best of both worlds – a hydrating super cream that softens your skin without oil. The best part is that after a long windy day, the gel can be used as a face mask to nourish your skin.  At night, crank up the hydration with the Pomegranate, Burdock and Shea  Night Cream (RRP $29.95) to detox and revitalise your skin while you sleep.

For an extra special indulgence, the range also includes two fabulously rich face oils (RRP $29.95). The Rosehip, Calendula and Chamomile face oil encourages healthy cells and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. The Argan, Pomegranate and Milk Thistle Oil helps to stimulate the production of cells and replenish the levels of fatty acids in your skin.

Certified by the Australian Certified Organic body, the guys are serious about their claim – from field to the bathroom cabinet – and have adopted a blatantly transparent approach to the why, how and where of each and every ingredient.

Our Thoughts

We fell in love with the range, firstly because it’s affordable and won’t be a barrier to incorporate organic skincare into your daily routine, secondly, we love the earthiness of the range and the use of natural ingredients. Sometimes products use natural ingredients that actually irritate the skin but we checked the ingredients in Paula Begoun’s Cosmetic Ingredients Dictionary to see if any of the key ingredients were irritants – ginkgo comes up average but I didn’t find it irritated my skin when I used the day cream, kakadu plum is not listed, grapefruit oil is a known irritant and it’s in the Foaming Cleansing Gel, personally I prefer cream cleansers than gels, I find them less stringent on my skin but everything else came up good or best so that’s a massive tick of approval.  And you know we are big lovers of face oils and they don’t disappoint, our favourite being the Rosehip, Calendula and Chamomile Face Oil. And finally we also love how the range doesn’t promise anything except to be organic, natural and just plain good for you.

Top Tip:  The 50mL face cream tubes (sensitive moisture, hydration gel, day cream and night cream) I was struggling to squeeze the creams out, I was squeezing and squeezing and squeezing and they just wouldn’t come out … when completely by accident I figured it out, you just have to face the little hole over your hand, and press the top flat bit down (you’ll understand when you see it) and voila the cream comes out easy peasy.

Consisting of 22 products this down to earth range is worth trialling, it will be available from July nationally at David Jones, Priceline and Terry White. For more you can visit their website: or for your nearest stockist you can call 1800 221 739.
