Oral-B have upped the luxurious ante with the release of their latest power toothbrush, the Oral-B 7000 Black design and let’s just get the shallow stuff out of the way and say regardless of performance it looks pretty sleek sitting on the bathroom benchtop and not to mention the very chic travel case it now has!
I’ve been using Oral-B power toothbrushes for a long time, my first one was the super basic electric toothbrush as it was called then and now look at them, very fancy schmancy, so you might say I’m a bit biased. The new 700 Black, besides its good looks, this power brush features up to 48,800 movements per minute, I can’t even get my head around that, and includes modes such as tongue cleaner, daily clean, deep clean, sensitive, whitening and massage. I’ll admit up-front that I don’t use the other modes I just like to keep it simple and I have a basic toothbrush in the shower that I use each morning to clean my tongue but it’s easy to use as you’ll read below.
It comes with the SmartGuide wireless display clock and timer so you can easily see when you’ve reached the recommended two minute mark … and I can’t bring myself to cheat and do anything less than two minutes, I need to see the little smiley face at the end and four stars – if you want five stars and a little wink, go 2.5 minutes! It dings at you each time it hits the 30sec mark and has a new battery LED light guide at the bottom that shows red when it needs to charge. And let me tell you, the oscillating movements, it’s fast and furious and leaves your teeth feeling super duper clean. The SmartGuide shows you mode you are in if you want to trial them out. And the brush uses pressure-sensor technology to alert you if you’re brushing too hard and automatically decelerates the pulsation and oscillation speeds of the brush head – a red light flashes up on the back of the brush – but for me normal brushing didn’t trigger this, I had to push quite hard onto my teeth to trigger it.
Now let’s talk about the sleek and sexy travel case, it beats my current plastic version hands down with its first class inspired design, it looks very comfy in there and protects the brush from turning on in your case – who hasn’t had a flat battery when they get to the other end??? The new design comes with a new charger base that goes back to being solid, so less mess on the benchtop and easy to pull out from the base to keep clean.
I definitely recommend the product, although I will admit it comes with a hefty price-tag but it’s good, clean teeth are a must and my only ‘con’ I’ve found with these products is the battery, after a while I find myself having to charge it every second day even when I follow the instructions to the letter on how to conserve the battery, if we were able to replace the battery ourselves when this starts happening, instead of having to purchase a new one that would be awesome ’cause I don’t like discarding for the sake of discarding but still my current one is onto it’s fourth or fifth year!
